The Spanish Association of Exporters and Industrialists of Table Olives, ASEMESA, is the organization that represents the manufacturing, marketing and export industry of this product, in which Spain is a world leader.

ASEMESA is one of the oldest business associations in Spain. It is a nationwide association headquartered in Seville, province where most of the production and industry of table olives is concentrated.

Both its denomination and its functions have evolved over time, although it has always remained faithful to the commitments with which it was born: to represent the sector and defend its interests.

association purposes

The purposes of the association are set out in article 5 of the Statutes: “ the defense of the collective professional interests of its affiliated companies dedicated to the elaboration, marketing or export of table olives, as well as their promotion and development and coordination and promotion of such interests.

In addition to what is established in its Statutes, ASEMESA's activities must serve the fulfillment of the objectives set by the General Assembly, which reflect the main concerns expressed by the associated companies and which are the following:

  • competition from emerging third countries
  • olive quality maintenance
  • survival of higher cost varieties
  • respect for the environment
  • profitability improvement
  • public recognition of the sector's contribution to society
